How we’ll work together

Once our quote is approved, we translate your document and add images, your logo and brand colours. You’ll have opportunities to give feedback along the way.
We can organise consumer testing if required, then we proof and tag your document for online accessibility before sending final files.

Consumer testing
It’s good practice to involve people with low English literacy in the development of Easy Read services and communications.
We employ people with low English literacy to read documents and give feedback about language, images and layout. Their feedback ensures the final version of your document meets the needs of your intended audience.
If you don’t have access to a customer reference group and would like feedback from one of our consumer testers, let us know at the beginning of your project.
Easy Read videos
Many people prefer videos over written information, including
people with intellectual disability and people from multicultural backgrounds.
Our videos explain topics in Easy Read style. Each page is read slowly and clearly to help people understand key messages. And the videos can be paused and repeated to reinforce learning.

What is Easy Read?
Easy Read is information that is easy for everyone to read and understand.
Some information can be hard to read and understand.
You might need this information to make important choices.
For example, choices about your health or where you live.
The law says you have a right to information you can understand.
Who does Easy Read help?
You might find Easy Read helpful if you
- find it hard to read long information or hard words
- have a disability
- are learning English.
Easy Read can help you

You can ask someone to help you read and understand Easy Read.
What does Easy Read look like?
Easy Read
- has simple words
- explains hard words
- gives examples
- has short sentences
- has pictures to explain ideas
- has a lot of white space on each page
- has big text.
How to ask for Easy Read
You can get more businesses to have information in Easy Read.
Ask for Easy Read in your community.
For example
- at the doctor or hospital
- at work
- at school.
You can also ask for Easy Read from
- your bank
- your local council
- your energy and water company
- your service provider.
Tell them their information is hard for you to read and understand.
Tell them what information you need.
Sometimes information is already in Easy Read.
If the information is not in Easy Read you can tell the staff about Easy Read.
